Best stocks to invest in – Biotech & Industrials: Two ETFs Trading with Outsized Volume

Best stocks to invest in

In the last trading session, U.S. stocks were in the green despite China-led growth worries and massive crashes in oil prices. Among the top ETFs, investors saw SPY gain about 0.1%, DIA  advance about 0.4% and QQQ move higher by more than 0.3% on the day.

Two more specialized ETFs are worth noting in particular though as both saw trading volume that was far outside of normal. In fact, both these funds experienced volume levels that were more than double their average for the most recent trading session. This could make these ETFs ones to watch out for in the days ahead to see if this trend of extra interest continues:

XBI: Volume 3.53 times average

This U.S. biotech equities ETF was under the microscope yesterday as nearly 14.6 million shares moved hands. This compares to an average trading day of 4.14 million shares and came as XBI lost about 5.6% in the session.

The movement was due to the bloodbath in the biotech space caused by general risk-off trade sentiments, overvaluation concerns and a host of stock offerings at discounted prices last week. XBI was down over 12% in the past one-month period.

PRN: Volume 3.25 times average

This U.S. industrials ETF was in focus yesterday as roughly 52,348 shares moved hands compared to an average of roughly 16,130 shares. We also saw some stock price movement as shares of PRN lost over 0.9% yesterday.

The still-weak U.S. manufacturing sector dented industrial companies like what we find in this ETF portfolio. A stronger greenback is basically weighing on the export sector. The fund has a Zacks ETF Rank #4 (Sell). However, in the last one month, PRN was down about 5.7%.
